Code of Conduct

Union 1908 Code of Conduct

Union 1908 exists to represent fans, support West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC (West), and build a community rooted in inclusivity and solidarity. Our behaviour as members should always reflect these values.

Members are expected to:

  • Uphold inclusivity: Treat everyone with respect, and refrain from intimidating, harassing, or discriminatory language and behaviour. We affirm the protected equality characteristics as defined in UK Equalities legislation (age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity) and extend this to include migration status, class/economic status, and size.
  • Be welcoming and supportive: Promote the positive, vibrant atmosphere that makes West unique. Help newcomers feel part of our community, and resist behaviours that undermine it.
  • Act responsibly as representatives: Whether at Brookburn Road, away grounds, or online, members should behave appropriately as representatives of Union 1908.
  • Challenge discrimination: Where safe and comfortable to do so, speak out against discrimination or abuse. Support fellow members in reporting incidents, and work with the Union, the club, and relevant authorities to ensure issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
  • Respect all spaces: These standards apply in all verbal, written, and digital communication, including social media.

Our Commitment

Union 1908 will take breaches of this Code of Conduct seriously. Anyone unwilling to respect these values is not welcome in the Union or at Brookburn Road.

Concerns, complaints, or reports of misconduct will be handled through our Disciplinary and Complaints Policy, which sets out a clear process for raising issues, investigating them, and taking appropriate action. Members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with this policy, which can be found here.
