Public Transport

It’s neither a weekend, nor a school holiday, so there’ll be no East Lancashire Railway trips to Ramsbottom this time.

The X41 bus (timetable here) from Shudehill Interchange is probably the simplest trip. There are two options at 17:25 and 18:10, and takes about 45 minutes to get to the East Lancs Railway stop that is a few minutes from the ground.

Otherwise take a tram to Bury, then walk 2 minutes to Bury Interchangefor a 472 or 474 bus (timetable here) for 20 minutes to the East Lancs Railway stop, then walk a few minutes to the ground. The 472/474 buses alternate and leave Bury regularly between every 10 and 20 minutes in the evenings.

Coming back, you’ll need to reverse the route via Bury as the X41 doesn’t run late on Tuesdays. There’s a 472 at 21:57, otherwise the 472 and 474 run at 30 minute intervals.

Meeting points/pub

Irwell Works Brewery in Ramsbottom itself is a fan favourite, with a great range of beers and pies at the bar. It’s less than 10 minutes from the ground. The Railway is a good option too, is much closer to the ground and also serves more substantial pub grub.

Food

There are pies at the ground, though you might be better getting something to eat in Ramsbottom itself.
