Union 1908 would like to express its disappointment at Ashton United’s proposed £12 adult price for tonight’s Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup game. For a secondary cup competition, where others have dropped their prices – such as Glossop North End, who are at home against Bury, and have cut their ticket price from £10 to £5 – to reflect this, a majority of our members have decided that they will be foregoing tonight’s game in protest at the associated costs of attending.
This does not amount to an official boycott, and there is complete understanding for those who will be attending: however, those that are missing the match are doing so in an attempt to draw a line under the increasing cost of attending non-league in the area, and to stand in solidarity with those families who are unable to afford to spend upwards of £50 to attend a regional FA competition fixture on a Tuesday evening.
We will be supporting from afar through whatever means we can, and hope that all West fans will be able to attend should we make it through to the next round of the Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup.
